Hi friends, family and other fine folks... Welcome to The Tin!

You are invited to donate to the tin of change.

This cyber-initiative is about inviting contributions from the dynamic people who ever-cultivate my life, with the intention of enriching the lives of childbearing families in Africa...

Ms.Anne-Marie will be leaving home for a couple of months this summer to spend time learning and sharing with midwives in Uganda (central Africa). In her baby catching hands, she intends to carry a tin of change.

Your change will be used to provide medical supplies to the families of newborns; the upcoming generation that holds Africa's future in their sweet little hands...

Put yourself in a Ugandan shoe...

- Your life expectancy is less than fifty years

- AIDS will claim tens of thousands of your country's population this year; you will feel this loss of life as it effects the labour market, your healthcare system, your community, your family...

- HIV rates are on the decline; international funding for educational programs are working in Uganda

- Of every twelve children you know, one is an orphan

- Access to education and healthcare will reduce the number of parentless families in your community

- Less than four out of every ten pregnant women you know will have a skilled attendant at their birth; compare this to the nearly 100% of women in Canada who will be supported by a birth attendant to have a safe childbirth experience

- Of the women who die during childbirth, 80% of them will die from a preventable cause

- Sterile gloves and oxytocin (a hormone-simulating drug that effectively reduces maternal hemorrhage after giving birth) are inexpensive supplies that can be purchased with a mere TIN OF CHANGE

If you still need some encouragement to donate, read on for the top 5 reasons why you should contribute to the tin of change:

5 - You've probably got some guilt brewing somewhere in your mind from something in your past. Donating to the tin of change will appease all guilt.

4 - I can almost ascertain that I've got less money than you, but there's always change to put forth.

3 - I'm not planning on getting married, so this acts as a suitable substitute for a wedding gift.

2 - This is a rad charity; 100% of donations will reach the hands of those who we're hoping to support.

1 - You are human...and by donating to the tin, you can automatically add an "e" to your existence...making you humane, indeed so very humane.

Conclusion: they need what we can provide, so please join together and support some change.

If you really feel like you have no change to spare, please support the initiative by forwarding the project information to friends/family who will contribute to some grassroots moving and shaking!

YOUR DONATION DEADLINE HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO MAY 31st, but why wait when you can donate ahora!!
